Youtube can be an incredible resource in your community for everything from branding, to announcements, to embedding tutorials and guides alongside their context in your digital workplace. Igloo's interface makes embedding Youtube videos easy, but you can do a lot more than embed the odd video here and there.
That said, let's start with the basics. There are two ways to embed a Youtube video in Igloo, using the video button in the text editor. If you have the url of the video, you can paste it in the url area, and Igloo will automatically fill in the rest and add the player on the page. Youtube also provides embed codes for videos, and the second tab in the video menu can accommodate that, letting you start videos at specific times, autoplay them, or use any other Youtube player option.
Youtube live events can also be embedded in through the url option of the video button, allowing you to stream directly into your digital workplace. Youtube currently doesn't permit embedding its chat however, but it can be useful for pulling the stream into a blog post where your members can leave comments.
Once the event or video is embedded in your Igloo, people will have all of the player options available to them. However, Youtube's new sharing interface will let you choose whether or not the player controls appear, whether suggested videos are shown afterward, and how the player title and actions are displayed. Bringing Youtube into your Igloo like this can give you the full advantage of Youtubes robust back end, and can display videos in 4k, and even 360 degrees.
