Mobility has become a key business enabler in connected, global, distributed organizations. It helps us make better decisions faster, keeps us connected to important conversations, and allows us to collaborate with peers from around the office and across the globe.
Content and conversations are the digital pulse of your organization, and it's the intelligent use of these contextual elements that can have a transformative impact on your business – from being more agile, efficient, productive and collaborative.
When Igloo set out to build a new mobile experience, we focused as much on what to exclude from the app as what we wanted to include. We knew responsive design provided significant value, but it's not a silver bullet. While competitors were creating "an intranet in your pocket" - we knew that some scenarios called for a more personalized, curated experience.
Today we're proud to announce the launch of Igloo Mobile, our new native app for iOS and Android. The new mobile app is focused on providing a personalized view into the conversations and collaboration that are the pulse of today's modern organization. Igloo Mobile makes it easier than ever before to share updates, provide quick feedback, stay on top of corporate and team news, and find people instantly – all from the convenience of a single app. Let's take a look at some of the key features of Igloo Mobile.
My Feeds My Feeds is your personalized feed of all the content that you follow, plus important corporate news broadcasts and content curated for you. In My Feeds, you can view posts in your feed, follow content, comment on important threads, and like and share updates from your colleagues. Think of My Feeds as the pulse of your organization, a dynamic real-time stream of the most important communications throughout your company.
People People is a global directory of all contacts in your Igloo community. Selecting People lists all contacts in your Igloo community alphabetically and also provides you with the option to search for a specific contact by name. People is the mobile version of the Igloo People Directory on desktop, including the ability to see recent activity including conversations, comments, and files. People also allows you to get in touch with a contact via email, phone, or text message. You can also view the contact's full profile in browser view in the app.
Share Something One of the great features of Igloo Mobile is the ability to easily compose quick updates on the go. Within My Feeds, clicking the voice balloon icon will open up Share Something. Within Share Something, you can share a quick update or message on a specific channel within your community. Create a quick update and attach a photo from your mobile device or a saved photo from your camera roll. Select the channel in your Igloo community to publish to - or search for a channel. Share Something is great for sharing quick updates with specific groups or teams within your organization.
Global Search Global Search is a unified search view across your Igloo community. The global search feature allows you to search for anything in your Igloo community - discussions, documents, even people. Clicking the Search icon in either My Feeds or People will bring up the search bar, allowing you to find content quickly across your Igloo community. The search pane also lists recent searches for ease and convenience.
Push Notifications Igloo Mobile creates native push notifications for all new activity associated with content that you are subscribed to in My Feeds. You can configure push notifications to suit your preferences by swiping right or selecting the gear icon in My Feeds to display the Settings pane. |
Experience your Igloo, your way
We knew that Igloo users valued a native app experience that was easy to navigate, easy to use, and provided them with a personalized view of important content that they could jump into at any time. With the reality that we are no longer bound by the desktop, we created an engaging mobile experience that allows you to stay connected to the pulse of your organization and stay on top of the most important content throughout your work day. Our goal with the new mobile app is for you to get the most out of your Igloo community on your mobile device.
Igloo Mobile is available as a free download from the App Store or Google Play.

Estamos muy emocionados en México por la aplicación móvil!
This is wonderful. Is there a way to brand the app for our individual companies? We've developed our own language around our Intranet and branded it "Connect". It would be ideal if our employees could download the app and it show up as "Connect" instead of igloo mobile. Thanks!
Hi Leslie Ann Phillips, while the default community name is automatically added to the heading on the initial screen, the Igloo Mobile app icon cannot be customized. We will be exploring the feasibility of changing the look and feel of the application though to reflect your intranet's visual design.
This is great tool, are we able to send message to other people? I have tried once but didn't work.
Hi Arif Yildirim, direct messaging is not currently supported in the app, but you can mention someone in a post or comment by typing the @ symbol followed by their name.
Just trying out the app now, It looks great so far! One thing I'm curious is about accessing certain blog pages. For example we have a My News feed where we post blog articles for all staff but I don't see a way to get the articles to appear in the main mobile feed unless someone comments at which point I see the comment. Also I searched "calendar" to see if we could pull up events and it says, "This item is not supported." Appreciate the support!
Hi Michelle Holden, thanks for the feedback. Your My Feed experience is personalized, curating content based on your subscriptions, mentions, or via information that is pushed to you via broadcast.
In this case, it sounds like you may need to auto-subscribe employees to the blog channels that comprise the 'My News Feed'. A best practice is to look at the content that you're surfacing on the homepage and ensure you're making use of instant subscriptions. Here's a quick knowledge base article on how to set that up.
The calendar issue you've described sounds like a bug. Can you report the issue here? And just message me if you run into any challenges or have further feedback about the mobile experience.
What's the lastest plans for this app? Right now it falls short in real functionality, which is a problem since most of our employees access infomation via mobile. With out any menu options, etc it basically is just a site search engine. We put the questions out to our initial Business Bevelopement Rep last week, but have never received any follow up.
I can't get it on Android??
