Tomorrow evening, we will be launching our first release of 2015 called Viking. There are some major features being added to improve how we collaborate around documents, plus some enhancements that you've been asking for. Here are the highlights (but you can also check out our knowledge base or our fancy landing page to learn more):
Sometimes important blog articles or forum posts can get buried by more recent material. Pinning is a new feature that allows important, introductory, or long lasting material to stay locked at the top of your widget until you release it or until the pin expires. Also included in this feature is the ability to respect or ignore pinning priority within individual widgets.
This new features creates a semi-transparent text overlay on document previews while leaving the original file untouched. It provides a way to remind readers of the status of documents, whether it is an executed or expired contract, a confidential document, or draft.
Viking comes with a whole new set of roles that allow administrators to customize who has the authority to broadcast to whom within your community. Two new roles have been added that give groups of your choosing the authority to either broadcast to groups of which they are members, or to all groups in the community. Alternately, you can use these roles to remove the ability of any or all users from broadcasting at all.
A new setting has been added to the file reservation system. By default, Igloo's reservation system allows users to indicate that they have reserved a file for editing. When someone wishes to take control, they may steal that reservation. In the Viking release, there's a new option in the global settings to respect reservations so that the owner must release their hold on the file before a new version can be added. Administrators can also take and release reservations as needed.
By default, the author and any user who has commented on a piece of content, follow it, and are notified of any comments or edits that occur. On some items, this can result in users receiving a slew of notifications. It is now possible for administrators to turn off the automatic following feature for any given channel in the subscription area, which is particularly useful for an executive authored blog.
Lots of cool stuff here. As always, if you have any questions about this product update, let us know in the comments below.

Any sense of when the document Gallery feature that was in the promotional video will be coming?
