The long-awaited social tasks feature is on the way! We've assembled a bit of a preview so you can check out all the exciting details!
Social tasks will allow users to create, assign, track and collaborate on tasks. Tasks can be created against content with in Igloo, added to task lists, assigned to users or made just for yourself. This lets your organization choose to assign and keep track of work in a way that works for you.
Tasks can be kept track of in a couple of ways:
Content tasks can be added to any content type including blogs, calendars, forums, documents, and wiki pages. From there, you can create subtasks on the original task, for when you there are lots of steps involved. You can create tasks for yourself or for someone else, which then lets you manage the privacy of the tasks, to limit the visibility to only the people involved. (Maybe you need to make a a SECRET cake.) Since you can assign other people to complete your content tasks, full notification capabilities are enabled on tasks, so you can keep track of exactly where each project is at.
You can create personal tasks that are not associated with content via the user bar. From here, you can either keep the task as your own personal task, or you can assign it to another user. You can keep track of both personal and content tasks through the consolidate view in your to-do dashboard, accessed via the user bar.
You can also organize your tasks into lists from anywhere in the Igloo platform. They can be created for specific teams, projects, and common work activities. Once you've created a task list, you still have the ability to create tasks with subtasks within that list, and create a participants group for any task list. This lets you manage who has access to a task list, and make sure all the relevant parties are in the know.
There are lots more details to come about tasks, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the horizon!

This sounds great!
Quick question, will there be a way to set up a task so that every members of the team can confirm that they have completed it (not just one member of the team)?
Being able to assign tasks to a group of users would be very useful!
Hi Allie and Amanda,
You will be able to have multiple users on a task, but in the initial launch, there is not a way for many people to check that they've completed one task. I'll be passing that on to our product team, and hopefully you will see it in a future iteration of the feature!
This is great stuff, keep up the great innovation, cheers
Any schedule? I have warned my members already and want them to read "Getting Things Done" in advance to understand what task management is all about.
;-)
Hi Thomas,
No final timeline just yet, but keep your eyes peeled! We'll be letting you know soon.
