With October upon us, it's time for our next release - focused on improving content creation and publishing in Igloo. We are also deploying some important behind-the-scenes capabilities that will enable a great new mobile experience that will be available to all early in the new year.
Let's have a look at what's new next week.
You will now see the new editor when composing broadcast content. The new editor is now extended to include broadcast messages, within both the publish screen and the trailer bar that appears on bottom left of community pages. The editor is the full version minus image, video, and emoticon capabilities which are not currently supported within community-generated emails. We are looking to include these as a part of a broader effort to improve notification emails early in the new year.
Also in this release, we are starting work on improving the experience around publishing broadcasts. We are changing the behavior to allow you to create a broadcast in draft mode, which will enable content authors to iterate on the broadcast message and also publish as a third party (for example, a CEO blog post). We anticipate this enhancement to be fully implemented in the November release.
The @ symbol will no longer be displayed when mentioning another user, you will simply see the user's name with a hyperlink to their profile. Logical, right? You still need to use the @ symbol in the editor to mention someone - it simply won't be displayed in the post for a cleaner aesthetic. We are also deploying changes required to support mobile push notifications for@mentions, which will be included in our highly-anticipated new mobile app that is launching in Q1 of 2017 on both Android and iOS platforms.
Last but not least, we held a webinar yesterday giving an update on the new capabilities we're getting ready to launch in Q4 of this year - Igloo Navigator and Igloo Mobile. We are gearing up for some big things in 2017 and can't wait to show you what we've been up to. In case you missed it, here's the recording of our What's New in Igloo, Fall 2016 edition.
