Here in the IGLOO, March may have come in like a Lion, but it is going out with some great new features for every community! This morning all communities were updated to bring you new features and enhancements to improve the way your use your IGLOO community.
A full list of all of the changes in this release can be found in our Release Notes, so head over there soon to read all about it.
A few of the awesome things that are worth mentioning again:
Attachments. We are pleased to begin providing attachments in four application areas: wiki, blogs, calendar and forums. This means that you can attach relevant files to community objects, such as a blog post or calendar event. This hopefully makes our applications easier to use, helps to stimulate better collaboration around content and keep your community information neat and organized. No more searching for where to upload an image or document just because you want to reference it in a blog or wiki page!
Invitation Improvements. From our customers we have heard that inviting people to the community shouldn't be a chore, it should be a joy! We tried to improve this process by expanding the invitation section so you can invite up to 20 people at once. You can also save a default invitation message which can be reused each time that you send invitations from your community. This will help to ensure that you are projecting a consistent, professional image of your brand, company or organization in the invitations you send out.
Search Engine Optimization. Look out Google…here we come! This release also includes a new feature for Pages that will help you to begin to improve your on page SEO. That's good news for administrators of public sites, hoping to drive traffic to their site through organic search. The addition of an Advanced Tab for each page allows on page factors like page title, meta-descriptions, relevant keywords and search engine robots to be customized thoughtfully.
Member Profile Data Export. Perhaps one of the most valuable tools a community administrator can have is a good understanding of who their members are - what are their skills and talents, what are they interested in, who are they connected to. Administrators can now export full profile data for each of the members in their community. All of the basic and extended information fields in a member's profile, along with the groups they are a part of, can be exported allowing administrators to build a better picture of who's in their community and connect this data easily with external databases or systems.
I'm extremely excited about the evolution of our product in 2010 and, having seen what's already in the works for the coming months, I think that these improvements are just the beginning in bringing all of our customers a platform which is easy and enjoyable to use. Our roadmap will undoubtedly evolve as we continue to listing and respond to our customers' needs. After all, isn't that how most great products are built?
